What We've Done

Studio 54: Night Magic (Spring 2020)

The Norm has once again transformed, this time to The Norm 54, featuring food reminiscent of the diner fare Studio 54 party-goers would eat once the club closed for the evening.

Pierre Cardin: Future Fashion (Summer / Fall 2019)

We transformed The Norm into Maxim’s-at-The Norm after Pierre Cardin’s restaurant, Maxim’s. Dark reds and golds turned the restaurant into a French bistro, while modern interpretation of classic French dishes starred alongside craft cocktails that captured the spirit and history of Pierre Cardin’s life.

Frida Kahlo: Appearances Can Be Deceiving (Winter / Spring 2019)

Bright pops of color from Mexican artifacts decorated the room, and large format images of Mexican costume design, similar to the clothes Frida Kahlo preferred, graced the gallery walls. The innovative Mexican cuisine developed by Chef Andy Mejias was complimented with dishes shared by highly regarded local Mexican-cuisine chefs.

David Bowie Is (Spring / Summer 2018)

The Norm celebrated the life and career of David Bowie with four unique David Bowie Is dinners. Highlighting the important phases of David Bowie’s body of work which were influenced by four major urban centers, the dinners reflected the foodways of the each of the cities: London, Berlin, Tokyo and Philadelphia. Chef Saul Bolton shared his menu insights with Brooklyn Museum’s director of exhibition design, Michael Yokobosky, addressed the installation of David Bowie Is.
